Melbourne Itinerary – European/UK Visitors

Europe/UK: 4 Day, 3 Night Program

Day 1 – Exploring Beautiful Melbourne

Morning: Welcome to Melbourne. On arrival, you will receive a warm welcome at the airport with your company’s banners. Luxury air-conditioned coaches will transfer you to a 5-star hotel within the Central Business District (CBD).

Lunch: Transfer from your hotel via water taxi to Docklands, Victoria’s superb new waterfront district. Located to the west of the CBD on magnificent Victoria Harbour with 3 km of Yarra River frontage, Docklands is fast becoming one of the world’s greatest urban domains. The area has a dynamic combination of residential, commercial, retail and leisure activities as well as unique urban art, grand promenades, parkland and marinas. Lunch will be served at Livebait, a fantastic restaurant on the water featuring Australian seafood with a Mediterranean flavour.

Afternoon: Take a half day ‘Discover Melbourne City Tour’, seeing Melbourne landmarks such as Queen Victoria Market, Bourke Street Mall and Parliament House. Drive through some of Melbourne’s beautiful parks and gardens and cross the Westgate Bridge for stunning views of Port Phillip Bay and historic Williamstown.

Dinner: Enjoy a casual welcome to Melbourne at one of Melbourne’s hottest venues – Comme. Located down one of Melbourne’s famous laneways in the CBD, Comme is a contemporary and sophisticated venue featuring two beautifully appointed and flexible rooms, perfect for event dinners. On the ground level an elegant bar and restaurant complete the picture.

Day 2 – Discovering Melbourne’s Culture

Morning: Breakfast at your hotel then discover the Queen Victoria Market on a gourmet ‘foodies’ tour. Begin your morning adventure with a tram ride to the Market with your local Melbourne guide. Upon arrival, a Market guide will take you through the fresh produce halls of Australia’s largest undercover market, established in 1878. Take the opportunity to chat to local stall owners, taste some of the freshest produce in town and discover why the Queen Victoria Market is a must see. After the tour, enjoy leisure time to take in the atmosphere and pick up some souvenirs to take home.

Lunch: Cool and trendy, this is a place where first impressions count. Zinc is right in the heart of Federation Square, Melbourne’s architectural landmark, and is one of Melbourne’s ultimate event venues. Floor to ceiling glass walls overlook the tranquil banks of the Yarra River, providing breathtaking views and creating a unique atmosphere.

Afternoon: Be introduced to the customs and rich heritage of the local Boonerwurrung and Woiworung people. Discover the ancestral lands that the Royal Botanic Gardens now occupy and explore the traditional uses of plants for food, medicine, tools and ceremony. An Aboriginal cultural performance can also be arranged for the group for a unique insight into this Indigenous culture.

Dinner: Imagine dining with an Old Master – the next best thing can be arranged for you in a memorable venue that is perfect for a gala dinner. The National Gallery of Victoria, located on Melbourne’s grand boulevard, St Kilda Road, is considered Australia’s most visionary art gallery. From the moment you pass by the cascading water wall to the stunning stained glass ceiling inside the Great Hall, you will be amazed. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapés in Federation Court with its glass dome ceiling, while a String Quartet provides the music. The evening will continue in the Great Hall where a contemporary band will serenade you with ambient music. Sit down to a delicious dinner matched with premium wines, prepared by one of Melbourne’s leading caterers. In keeping with the theme of fine arts, a performance by Opera by Disguise or The Three Waiters can be arranged.

Day 3 – Out & About in Greater Melbourne and Victoria

Morning: After breakfast at your hotel, get a birds-eye-view of the Melbourne CBD and the famous Great Ocean Road as you journey to Ballarat in a helicopter. The town of Ballarat, which is 110 km west of Melbourne, captured the world’s attention in 1851 with the richest alluvial gold rush in history. Today, Sovereign Hill recreates that golden era of excitement and everyday pioneer life. See costumed townspeople going about their business; be enthralled by craftsmen at work; ride a horse-drawn coach; tour an underground mine; have a go at being a Blacksmith. Above all, try your luck and pan for real gold!

Lunch: Enjoy a private group lunch at Sovereign Hill. Wait staff will be dressed in period costume to maintain the theme of the event and actors can be arranged to play out entertaining scenarios, such as having the town sheriff arrest one of the participants.

Afternoon: No journey to Melbourne is complete without a visit to one of its award-winning wildlife sanctuaries. At Ballarat Wildlife Park, you can get up close to Australian animals, hand feed a kangaroo and pat a koala. The park also runs interactive displays where you can watch a crocodile being fed or learn more about the cuddly koala.

Evening: The historic Regent Theatre offers the perfect opportunity to literally be on centre stage.  The group will ‘dine and shine’ on stage at this celebrated Collins Street icon, with fine food and wine for a night to remember.

Day 4 – Inside Designer Melbourne

Morning: Enjoy breakfast while getting an insight into the Melbourne fashion world. Watch as models show off Australian design in a 30 minute fashion parade. Take the opportunity to speak to some of the top designers about their trade and relax while being entertained prior to your departure from Melbourne. A team building activity can be incorporated into this event where guests are split into teams to make a fashionable hat, with the materials provided on their table.

Then take the time to explore the hidden laneways of the Melbourne CBD, or enjoy a half-day tour with many options available:
