MELBOURNE’S FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Victorian State Government considers providing financial support to major Congresses of economic significance. They have confirmed substantial funding for the ICI 2016 Congress and a significant part of this funding will be used to help support the participation of young Investigators and delegates from developing countries to attend the Congress.

In addition to the Victorian Sate Government support, the Melbourne bid comes with the full support and commitment of Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB) and Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). Melbourne’s proposal is supported by an extensive number of sources including financial citywide support as well as letters of support. This means that we are able to offer a broad and diverse level of support encompassing key aspects of the Congress.

MCVB/MCEC Financial Citywide Support Package

Melbourne provides a strong package of financial citywide support which includes Congress planning support, Congress marketing support, Congress on-site support and a pre-Congress site inspection to Melbourne for IUIS Council Members. This demonstrates our commitment to help with delegate boosting activities to generate the maximum number of delegates for the Congress.

MCVB National and International Representation

In addition to the very strong infrastructure in the Melbourne head office, MCVB has a number of very experienced representatives in interstate and overseas offices. These are located in Sydney, London, New York, San Diego and Chicago, Hong Kong and Singapore. These offices will help ensure the success of the Congress. They can provide advice and promotion of the Congress in the international markets and help with delegate boosting.

Melbourne’s Cost Competitiveness

As a host city, Melbourne offers financial advantages to both organisers and delegates.
