MCVB Corporate Social Responsibility Service - Make Your Melbourne Business Event an Industry Leader

In 2009, the Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau was awarded for its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives by the Victorian branch of Australia's leading industry body, Meetings & Events Australia (MEA).

The CSR Award recognised MCVB's record number of green initiatives, which included many environmental firsts for any Australian Convention Bureau. It also recognised MCVB's contribution to instituting lasting legacies from Business Events held in Melbourne and Victoria, including significant fundraising initiatives for local charities.

MCVB is committed to leading the Business Events industry on the Corporate Social Responsibility front, and to this end provides CSR tools and advice for those planning a Business Event in Melbourne.

MCVB can provide support and advice in the following CSR areas.

Green Event Advice

MCVB works alongside industry leaders including the 'Carbon Reduction Institute' and 'Climate Neutral' to provide advice on reducing the environmental impact of Business Events held in Melbourne.

A major new initiative includes the Carbon Reduction Institute/MCVB Carbon Calculator, which assists meeting planner's to calculate the carbon emissions of individual events held in Melbourne and Regional Victoria. Advice is also given on how to offset these carbon emissions.

This year, MCVB also launched a green, low carbon impact incentive website, making organising "green" incentive travel programs in Melbourne and Victoria easier than ever before. The website includes 'Victoria's Top 10 Green Incentive Activities,' sample itineraries, advice on planning an environmentally sustainable Business Event in Melbourne, and a 'Green Check-list' for Business Events. Leaving a lasting legacy

MCVB works with those holding Business Events in Melbourne to make a lasting contribution to the community through education and information sharing, particularly through public forums, allowing visiting experts to engage with local community groups.

MCVB has also initiated a corporate donation system, wherein meeting planners or event VIPs and Guest Speakers can choose a charity or environmental protection agency from MCVB's list to receive donations made on behalf of the associations and societies meeting in Melbourne.

Support with major fundraising initiatives

MCVB works with those holding a Business Event in Melbourne to undertake creative fundraising initiatives, benefiting both delegates and local charities. A recent highlight saw MCVB work with a major multinational corporation to raise over $57,000 for Melbourne children's charity, Berry Street, by hosting a Health Run for delegates during the corporation's Melbourne-held incentive program.
