The Grampians
The Grampians region, with its ancient and expansive landscapes, has stunning superb national and state parks, Indigenous history, and breathtaking scenery.
National parks
The Grampians National Park features spectacular rocky outcrops, 200 bird species, Koorie heritage trails, and Victoria's largest collection of rock art. To survey the beauty of the region follow one of the 40 walking tracks, from gentle strolls to challenging hikes.
Make your way to lookouts with stunning panoramic views as well as picturesque waterfalls. Rich and colourful spring wildflower displays blossom from August to October. Watch for the abundant resident native animals and birds, including kangaroos, emus, wedge-tailed eagles and more.
Mt Arapiles, near Horsham, is an internationally renowned rock climbing destination. Little Desert National Park, near the South Australian border, is home to the rare Mallee fowl.
Discover local history
At Brambuk the National Park & Cultural Centre, learn about local Aboriginal history and culture. The area contains the majority of surviving Aboriginal rock art sites in south-east Australia.
Wine region
The Great Grape Route is a scenic circuit through the Pyrenees, Grampians and Ballarat wine regions of Western Victoria. These wine regions produce some of Australia's finest cool climate wines - most notably Shiraz.
Local hospitality
A unique destination in the town of Dunkeld, The Royal Mail Hotel is set among native gardens and fruit orchards with stunning views of the Southern Grampians Ranges. Book into a room with a view and enjoy a multi-course tasting menu that features seasonal vegetables and herbs grown in the restaurant's kitchen garden.
After a day of exploring, why not book a bed in an historic hotel or a self-contained cottage? Book into an eco-lodge or a B&B secreted away in a peaceful bush setting.
